Ashley Witters, 37 of Carlisle, is accused of placing her teenage daughter "in a choke hold, kicked, bit, and [head-butting] her," the police stated in the release. The daughter's exact age was not released.
Officers were called to the "active physical domestic" on Friday, May 10.
Witters was arrested on the following charges according to her latest court docket:
- Felony Strangulation - Applying Pressure to Throat or Neck.
- Felony Endangering the Welfare of Children - When Parent, Guardian, or Other Commits Offense.
- Misdemeanor Simple Assault.
Her preliminary arraignment was held before Judge David J. Rogers the same day she was arrested. Rogers set her bail at $10,000 which she failed to post so she has been held in the Cumberland County Prison, as detailed in her docket. Her preliminary her is set before Rogers at 11:15 a.m. on June 12.
Witters was out of prison on $1,000 bail for another active case in the county at the time of this assault: Felony Fraudulent Traffic in Supplement Nutrition Assistance Program. The preliminary trial conference for that case is scheduled for 8 a.m. on June 4, according to a separate court docket.
